2026 focus

Let's chart new paths together!

For several years now, crises have been occurring one after another. Shipping routes are shifting, supply chains are being reorganized, and costs are fluctuating in response to geopolitical events.

In a world marked by wars and economic uncertainty, freight transport has become one of the primary indicators of global imbalances. Added to this instability are more structural challenges: fewer available carriers, costs that are difficult to predict, and mounting regulatory constraints… In this context, most shippers and carriers have come to the same conclusion: we can no longer work alongside one another. We must work together. It is no longer just a matter of performance; it is a matter of resilience.

Top Transport Marseille offers precisely two days to discuss these issues frankly. Industry professionals on the ground will share what they’ve tried, what worked, and what didn’t. How can you secure capacity when the market tightens? To what extent can you share risk without putting your partner at risk? How can you build models robust enough to weather future crises?

Shippers and carriers together—with their respective constraints, their sometimes divergent interests, but facing the same reality. Because the right answers come from the field, because the challenges are shared, and above all because the models that hold up are first and foremost those we build together.

Conferences

Decarbonizing Road Freight Transport: How Are Shippers Tackling This Challenge?

Opening Session | Wednesday, October 14 | 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. | Room 76

Amid the climate emergency, geopolitical tensions, increased regulatory pressure, and the need to remain competitive, the decarbonization of road freight transport has now emerged as a major challenge for shippers. Where do they really stand: how are they managing their decarbonization path? What investments are they making? What obstacles must they overcome, and what collaborations are they establishing with their carrier partners? To answer these questions, the AUTF will unveil the results of its survey on the decarbonization of road freight transport during a panel discussion with several shippers. This will be a unique opportunity to share experiences, identify levers for decarbonization, and shed light on the sector’s future prospects.

To kick off this edition of Top Transport, several experts and panelists will address these various questions during the conference:

  • Valérie CORNET AMBROISE - Land Transportation Representative - AUTF
  • Christine REVAULT - Head of Land Transportation Procurement, Europe Supply Chain - Arkema
  • Jean-Pierre BELTEL - Distribution Manager - Suntory Beverage & Food France

Round Tables

Top Transport: relive the 2026 edition

The Future of the Mediterranean-Rhône-Saône Corridor: Can Inland Waterways Turn Marseille-Fos into a Low-Carbon Logistics Corridor?

MProvence Roundtable | Wednesday, October 14 | 3:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. | Room 76

The Rhône is already there. So are the quays, locks, port facilities, and industrial connections. Yet inland waterway transport remains marginal in the movement of goods along the Mediterranean–Rhône–Saône corridor. Submitted to Transportation Secretary Philippe Tabarot, Augustin de Romanet’s report brings this issue back into the spotlight. His conclusion is clear: the Mediterranean–Rhône–Saône corridor represents a strategic route for France’s industrial, logistics, and energy sectors. It connects Marseille-Fos, the Rhône Valley, Lyon, the Saône, and major European economic regions. Yet it remains underutilized, even though river transport offers a more sustainable, higher-volume, and lower-emission alternative to road transport. How can the Rhône be transformed into a true low-carbon logistics highway? How can Marseille-Fos be better connected to its industrial hinterland? How can shippers, exporters, and carriers be convinced to shift part of their freight flows to the river? And what governance structure should be put in place to coordinate the port, the river, rail, logistics hubs, manufacturers, and local regions? This roundtable will address a very concrete challenge: moving from talk about modal shift to operational solutions for businesses.

Speakers at this conference included:

  • Martin FERAUD, President of the Marseille-Fos Maritime and River Union
  • Fabienne MARGAIL, Head of the Intermodal Solutions and Port Transit Department, Grand Port Maritime de Marseille-Fos
  • Jean-Philippe DELMONT, Deputy CEO of the Combronde Group
  • Philippe LESBROS, Vice President of Shipping Lines, CMA CGM Group

Moderated by Yves BLISSON, business journalist and president of MProvence

In the current climate, how can we maintain a win-win relationship?

Transalliance Expert Workshop | Wednesday, October 14 | 4:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. | Room 50

What makes a good shipper, from a carrier’s perspective? What makes a good carrier, from a shipper’s perspective? Tensions are rising between shippers and carriers. Cost-cutting versus very low margins, expectations for flexibility versus the need for consistency, and the risk of a wait-and-see approach to CSR issues. Panzani will share its expectations of its carriers, and Transalliance will share its expectations of its shipper clients. A lively discussion moderated and analyzed by Socratiz. The goal: to identify what builds—or undermines—a long-term shipper/carrier relationship, and to identify concrete ways to bring the two parties closer together.

Featuring

  • Julian ROTA - Transportation Manager - Panzani
  • Nicolas CHARRIER - Logistics & Transportation Manager - Panzani
  • Jean-Baptiste AVRIL - Director of Development - Transalliance

Freight hijackings, thefts, or attempted thefts: a resurgence and changing trends in Europe

Marichal Logistics Expert Workshop | Wednesday, October 14 | 11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. | Room 50

In 2025, cargo theft in Europe poses a major risk to the supply chain, with Germany (27%), Italy (13%), the United Kingdom (9%), France (6%), and Spain (6%) reporting the highest number of thefts. Criminal activity—which has risen significantly over the past three years—is constantly evolving, exploiting operational complexity, market volatility, and surveillance gaps across various modes of transport and regions. Drawing on data regarding incidents, law enforcement interventions, and specialized intelligence, our expert speakers will lead this workshop centered on the question: How can we adapt and prevent these incidents? An issue of concern to both shippers and carriers

Presentations were given by

  • François DAVID, Sales Director at MARICHAL SENSI, the sensitive transport subsidiary of Marichal Logistics.
  • Patrice BOUVET of AM Group, a former judicial police officer who investigated truck hijackings, identity theft, theft, or attempted theft of freight from trucks or warehouses, and an insurance specialist.
