Operational excellence: pragmatic yet ambitious transportation services for shippers
The context is becoming more tense, with regulations and legal obligations now set out in a precise timetable: decarbonization is happening now! It is also becoming more urgent: despite the slowdown in inflation, purchasing power continues to decline, bringing with it enormous pressure on prices, and therefore on the production chain and transport... not to mention the increase in the cost of raw materials.
The picture seems a little bleak, doesn't it? And yet, it is precisely all these tensions that are pushing the sector to accelerate but also to rationalize its strategic choices.
After a long period of trial and error and grand environmental promises during which transport players did not have a truly clear roadmap, the market finally knows where it needs to go, how, in what context, and within what timeframe. It is pragmatic because economic challenges demand it, and ambitious in the current ecological context. Welcome to the era of operational excellence!
See you in Marseille on October 16 and 17, 2024 !

Road transport prices and costs: what are the prospects for 2025 ?
Opening Plenary Session | Tuesday, October 16 | 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. | Room 76
The year 2024 saw a decline in road transport prices due to a new balance between supply and demand. Meanwhile, cost trends (excluding diesel) were also moderate, with the end of inflation and wage adjustments. This conference will provide an opportunity to better understand the challenges ahead for 2025, to understand the components of road transport costs, and to analyze the reasons behind carriers' requests for rate increases. We will also take a look at the costs of electric fleets.
To open this edition of Top Transport, several experts and witnesses will answer these various questions during the conference:
- Mathilde Vassas, senior manager at PWC
- Alexis Giret, director of the National Road Committee
Moderated by Jean-Paul Meyronneinc, professor at Paris 1 and Dauphine, founder of Meyronne FCE
Round Tables

The sailing cargo ship: reasons to come aboard
Wednesday, October 16 | 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. | Room 76
With sustainable development goals and the exponential increase in carbon taxes, all avenues are being explored to decarbonize maritime transport. Sail propulsion is now part of the portfolio of solutions offered to shippers wishing to transit via green corridors. How are they driving this radical cultural change within their companies? How can obstacles and taboos be overcome? This round table will feature testimonials from pioneering shippers who are committed to this approach. Beyond volumes, some are even investing in the construction of sailing cargo ships out of conviction. Transit time, safety of goods on board, handling and storage conditions, temperature... These are all factors that are now integrated into a redesigned sustainable logistics system.
The following speakers took part in this conference:
- Matthieu Brunet, Director at ARCADIE and Co-founder of WINDCOOP
- Lise Detrimont, General Delegate of Wind Ship
- Djamina Houdet-Caseneuve, President and Co-founder of HISSEO
- Michael Uhlmann, Transport Purchasing Manager at Ariane Groupe
Moderated by Nathalie Bureau du Colombier, Journalist and Podcast Producer

Decarbonization of transportation: the example of the South region
Thursday, October 17 | 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. | Room 76
A one-hour debate provided an opportunity to discuss the projects of the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille Fos and the major industrial and maritime groups in the South Region to reduce CO₂ emissions linked to freight transport. What is the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille Fos' roadmap for decarbonization? What carbon-free transport solutions are available to shippers? How can new fuels be put to good use?
These are the questions addressed by this conference, organized in collaboration with MProvence, the economic news media outlet in Provence.
Speakers at the conference included:
- Rémi Costantino, Deputy Managing Director of the Port of Marseille Fos
- Karim Touati, Regional Director of SNCF Réseau Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
